What’s better than London Beer Day? London Beer Week! Ok, there isn’t officially a London Beer Day but we can just use that name for every time you consume a couple of post-work pints or wash down your Sunday lunch with a couple of bottles of hoppy goodness. There is, however, a London Beer Week. This week is dedicated entirely to celebrating the best of London’s beer scene. There will be brewery tours, a beer village and plenty of events to keep you occupied every night of the week. The festival runs from Monday 13th of March through to Sunday the 19th and here’s a rundown of some of the things you’re not going to want to miss.
The Beer Edit
New to 2017, the Beer Edit is probably the single most important event of the whole festival. It will run from Thursday to Saturday and consists of a huge open space (the Oval Space off Hackney Road to be precise), which will be filled with pop up stands, parties and plenty of beer-related products and activities. Be sure to book a ticket in advance and get ready to get merry with all your favourite beverages. Friends are optional.
In previous years, visitors have been given the chance to tour some of the city’s best bars to see what goes on behind the scenes of these wonderful drinking dens. This year, however, LBW is going one step further and giving us the opportunity to go straight to heart of the magic by touring the breweries themselves. Each night you will get to see several breweries and you will be transported from venue to venue in one of their numerous rickshaws – way more fun than a taxi and greener too.
St. Patrick’s Day Party
St. Patrick’s Day Party is at the Pickle Factory this year
On March 17th is everyone’s favourite Irish holiday and London Beer Week is capitalising on this by throwing a huge party sponsored by Guinness. The event takes place at the Pickle Factory in East London and will be perfectly boozy. As well as copious pints of Guinness, guests will also be able to sample numerous other beers as well as some of London’s finest street food, courtesy of Kerb, the geniuses behind the Camden Food Market.
Beagle Beer Dinner
What’s better than beer? Beer and food. That is an indisputable fact. Of course, the masters pulling the string of London Beer Week know this and are throwing an event that will tantalise your tastebuds and leave you stumbling home with a full belly and a beery grin of satisfaction. The dinner will consist of five expertly chosen courses, each paired with the perfect pint as an accompaniment. For beer and food connoisseurs, this event is a must.
Keg Party Project
After a hard week of work and plenty of civilised beer tasting sessions, it’s time to let loose on Friday night at the Keg Party Project. Taking place in the Oval Space (where the Beer Edit is located), this party is guaranteed to be off the hook with live music, beer pong, a great vibe and, of course, plenty of beer. The event is being hosted with PBR so you will get a can of the good stuff included in your £10 ticket. Enjoy!
