Easter weekend is just around the corner and once again families are stocking their cupboards with goodies and working out how to spend their 4-day break. When planning your Easter weekend, the West End might not spring to mind as the perfect venue for a family day out. However, this year the trendiest part of London is putting on a whole host of events guaranteed to fill your day with fun, laughter and, perhaps, some chocolate eggs as well.
The Passion of Jesus
On Good Friday the talented Wintershall cast will be performing their passion play in Trafalgar square, complete with live animals. The performances are at 12 and 3:15pm and are free to attend so get there early as they attract huge crowds. The performance is as beautiful as it is informative and is suitable for everyone in the family.
Underground Secrets at the London Transport Museum
This Easter holiday the London Transport Museum is putting on a special event for young children and parents that will take them on an imaginary journey through the secret, lost tunnels of the old tube lines. The day will involve problem solving, exploring and all sorts of other exciting activities. This is definitely not one to miss for any adventurous youngsters.
The Great Golden Egg Hunt at Fortnum & Mason
Head over to Fortnum and Mason in Piccadilly for some gourmet Easter fun that will be sure to keep your children entertained and stuffed full of delicious Easter treats. Get creative and build your own Easter sundae in The Parlour and keep your eyes peeled for the elusive golden egg. Then head over to the Amazing Art Cart and design you own spectacular Easter Eggs to be hung on the Easter Tree.
Easter Gnome Painting at Cath Kidston
Feeling arty? Cath Kidston’s flagship store in Piccadilly is offering children and adults alike the chance to get their hands messy as they try their hand at painting some of the store’s well known gnomes. If you’re lucky you might also get to meet one of the real life gnomes that will be wandering around on the day. If you’re feeling extra creative why not take part in the Gnorris the Gnome photo competition? Pick up a cardboard gnome from the store and snap some photos of him in the most interesting places you can find.
